Focus on your goals, a useful break
July Challenge
July is a time for me to rest as much as it is for realignment. After all, six months have already passed in the year. I have the choice to continue on my path without making any changes or to make changes along the way. This is all part of a deep reflection. There are no right or wrong answers. Only YOUR truth is the right answer. Continuing on a path with which we are no longer aligned will only lead to failure. It is difficult to be aligned with a goal with which we are not aligned and put all the effort into it. No matter your field of employment or your organization, this exercise is worth doing.
First, take the time to breathe. Your body needs it. Savor this moment of relaxation. Enjoy the company of your family and friends. And when you're rested, focus on the goals you set for yourself in December or January for the new year.
To focus, I review my goals. I can modify them based on my own reflection or leave them as they are. I might also decide that my goals are correct, but that there are gaps in my action plan.
For my part, here are the 4 important points on which I am reflecting:
Sales:
- No matter what your field of work is, you will have to sell your salad to your boss, your employees, your customers who visit your facilities, etc.
- What is the feedback from your customers?
- Do you have a way to check their satisfaction?
- Are you happy with your sales, or do you need to adjust? This might mean reducing or increasing advertising for a specific customer base. You might also need to adjust the quality of your ads.
Production:
- You don't need to be in a factory to manage production. Every business must provide a service or a product.
- And you, are you satisfied with the quality of hygiene and sanitation of your building or the buildings for which you are responsible?
- Do you feel dissatisfaction among your employees?
- Do you have a high absenteeism rate? This could be a warning sign of employee dissatisfaction.
Administration:
- This point is just as important for your customers as the well-being of your business.
- Are invoices reaching your customer in a reasonable time?
- Are there often errors in billing?
- Is everything charged?
- And are your suppliers paid on time? Your company's well-being also depends on your suppliers. The better you treat them, the more they'll want to work with you.
- What do your numbers say? If you don't know how to read them effectively, your accountant can help you. There are also courses at CEGEP to help you read your financial statements. It's only 3 hours of training.
Staff:
- Very often, we set ourselves professional goals. But personally, we regularly forget about them. Personally, it's just as important as business. Because I know that if things don't go well on that side, everything else won't work well!
- How is your physical and mental health?
- Do you have power or are your batteries completely flat and difficult to recharge?
- Do you have time for yourself, your spouse, your children, your friends?
Before you get back to work, make sure you've had enough time to breathe, savor, and focus on your goals, on what you really want in your life over the next 6 months. With all the effort you put in, you deserve it!
To take your thinking a little further
Here is an article about the image we leave with our customers, specializing in household maintenanceThis can apply to building managers as well as to cleaning contractors. I invite you to do your own examination.
And if you feel like it, I would love to read it! It will be a secret between you and me!
