Training objective
Mastering the complete maintenance of hard floors: recognizing the different coatings, choosing the right products, equipment and pads, executing each operation according to best practices and setting up a real maintenance program — all while working safely and respectfully of the client's premises.
What you will learn
- Recognize the main types of flooring — ceramic, terrazzo and stone, wood, Mondo, linoleum and marmoleum, vinyl tile — and apply the maintenance specific to each.
- Mastering the "staircase" of floor maintenance: dusting and washing daily, polishing regularly, scrubbing as needed and stripping every 3 to 5 years — each step delaying the next.
- Perform the major operations step by step: polishing with a polishing compound, scrubbing (light, medium and intense), complete stripping and application of the finish.
- Choose the right pad and product — neutral cleaner, degreaser, stripper, neutralizer, sealer and finish — and understand the role of pH and thorough rinsing.
- Understanding the floor finish and its percentage of solids in order to choose the right product according to traffic and the possibility of polishing.
- Understanding specialized techniques: Twister pads for terrazzo and stone, biotechnology, orbital scouring.
- Working safely and ethically: personal protective equipment, protection of premises, replacement of furniture and complete preparation of equipment before departure.
