A poorly calculated bid is costly: a price that's too low eats into your profits contract after contract, while a price that's too high causes you to lose bids. This training provides you with a rigorous method for estimating labor times and building fair and profitable bids—your best competitive advantage against the franchises and unrealistic prices circulating on social media. Bring your laptop: you'll leave with a ready-to-use Excel spreadsheet for each of your contracts.
Who is this training for?
- Entrepreneurs and owners of housekeeping and related services businesses
- Bid managers and those responsible for submitting bids
- Anyone required to estimate working hours and prepare contract prices
Training objective
Mastering the entire estimation process, from reading the plan to the final price: measuring areas, calculating working times, establishing an hourly rate that respects Quebec's wage obligations, and producing an accurate and profitable quote using an Excel tool.
What you will learn
- Quickly measure and calculate the areas to be maintained (reading plans, counting tiles, laser rangefinder), in square feet and square meters.
- Estimate working times using the reference method and the ISSA standards (production rate per surface area and calculation per sanitary appliance).
- Build your own field time statistics and recognize the factors that cause them to vary (worker, surface, working conditions).
- Calculate a fair and profitable hourly rate by integrating Quebec wage obligations: labour standards, decrees of joint committees (Montreal and Quebec), work classes A, B and C, marginal benefits, RRSP and CNESST.
- Calculate production costs, equipment depreciation, overhead costs and desired profit.
- Use an Excel spreadsheet designed to build accurate submissions, one file per contract.
- Recognize unsustainable prices and bid rigorously to remain competitive without losing out.
