Anyone who works in housekeeping knows this. It takes hands-on experience to get up to speed. Here are some housekeeping tips to kick-start your learning.<\/p>\n

Be well equipped<\/h2>\n

At the end of each shift, clean your buckets and cleaning cart. Put your microfiber cloths and mops in the wash and put fresh ones on your cart so it's ready for the next day. Don't refill the buckets right away; you'll do that at the beginning of your shift. Restock your janitorial supply cart as well. You cannot wash with dirty equipment or accessories<\/h2>\n

If your mop is as unsightly as the attached image, it's obvious you'll be dirtying your floor more than you'll clean it. Your microfiber cloths should be washed every day. In a warm, humid environment, bacteria thrive and thrive at incredible speeds!<\/p>\n

Don't overload your cleaning cart<\/h2>\n

Instead of stocking up on full crates of garbage bags and toilet and hand tissues, know approximately how much toilet and hand tissue you distribute per day. For garbage bags, you can distribute them in the bottom of small trash cans. And on your cleaning cart, you can keep a stack of each size. You'll be able to work comfortably with your cart without getting cluttered. Therefore, choose commercial-size sanitary dispensers. Distributors of sanitary products and accessories will be happy to guide you in this direction. Some may even provide you with dispensers completely free of charge under certain conditions.<\/p>\n

Be organized<\/h2>\n

Many janitors tell me they try to do everything, every day... it's impossible to do everything every day! Usually, the building is too big to do everything every day. So, instead of trying to do everything too quickly, divide your building into 5 sections. Deep clean one section per day, which is part of your weekly chores. Offices are a good example.<\/p>\n

Emptying the waste container should be done daily, and recycling should be done weekly. Washing the windowsill, desk, chair legs, and so on are generally tasks that should be done only once a week. So, everything will be done by the end of the week!<\/p>\n

For common areas, you will have to empty garbage and recycling containers, mop, remove stains on the floors.<\/strong><\/span> A work route defining regular and periodic work could better define the work to be done. When microwave ovens have been used a lot during the day, they are often very dirty and stuck. The quickest way to clean them is simply to take some paper towels,<\/p>\n

Wet and place one in each microwave oven. Turn on the microwave ovens for 10 to 15 seconds each. During this time, clean the counters, sinks, tables and chairs in the cafeteria or kitchenette. When you have finished this task, return to your microwave ovens. All you have to do is wash them with your wet cloth, soaked in the cleaning product. With the steam, the dirt will easily come off.<\/p>\n

It is very important to put the furniture back in its place, in a neat and orderly manner.<\/p>\n
