During spring break, our custodians will be working very hard to complete as many marking tasks as possible in our schools. They will only have a few days to cover large areas. It is therefore essential that they are well-organized and know exactly which tasks to complete in order to avoid wasting time.

I suggest you prepare a detailed schedule and distribute the tasks day by day, employee by employee. Making a list of the cleaning tasks to be completed during spring break is the best way to ensure nothing is forgotten and that the entire school is covered.

Team leader or building manager

As a team leader or building manager, I recommend conducting a thorough inspection of your school to identify any deficiencies that need addressing during spring break. Then, take note of the points below that apply to your school.

You know your team's strengths and weaknesses well. It's therefore wise to distribute tasks according to each person's skills. On the other hand, the week off also presents an excellent opportunity to coach your employees and improve their work techniques.

This is also a great time to recognize the efforts of your concierges. We know winter isn't easy for them. Why not take advantage of this time to give them a little pat on the back? A box of donuts and coffee for the whole team, how about that?

Tasks to be completed by the caretakers during the week off

Entrances

• Clean the entrance mats
• Wash the walls between the porticos if necessary
• Brush the ceramic floors (if necessary)

Bathrooms and changing rooms

• Wash the walls and doors of the bathrooms on all floors

• Brushing ceramic floors

• Wash the ceramic walls of the changing rooms

Kitchens, kitchenettes

• Wash the walls and scrub the ceramic floors

• Cleaning kitchen hoods

Stairs and elevators

• 

  Sweep and wash all stairs

• Wash the stair railings (handrail, balusters and base)

• Wash the walls and elevator handrails

Other common areas

• Removing stains from walls

• Polish the corridors or perform a light scrubbing, if necessary.

Classes

• Removing stains from walls

• Wash the desks and remove all traces of graffiti.

• Check and clean the partition glass
