A method already widely used in the hospital sector, the pre-saturation washing method is making its way into the commercial sector. The pandemic crisis is helping to improve our health and safety practices, as well as our cleaning methods. However, can this system really be used everywhere? This system works just as well for hand washing as it does for the flat-washing method. Here's an article that explores the issue.
The old method of washing
Our old ways of doing things were to clean and disinfect with the same cloth and water for a few hours. In addition to being unhygienic, this approach leads to musculoskeletal injuries. In terms of housekeeping, these injuries are known to be common:
- Back pain due to poor back position when handling the mop.
- Pain in shoulders, elbows, forearms (especially because of the handling of the 16-32 ounce mop.
- And of course, the hand pain.

Imagine…. Dozens of times in one shift x 5 days x 52 weeks x several years using this method… In addition to re-soaking your laundry in water that has become dirty. Think this is the fastest method? If you think so, you've never tried the pre-saturation method!
The pre-saturation washing method
We would now like to introduce you to the presaturation method through this blog. Please note that this method is part of our housekeeping and sanitation training.
The idea behind the pre-saturation method is to add just the right amount of product to the bucket. In other words, each of your laundry will be moistened, nothing more. You'll use one side of the laundry per surface to be washed. When all sides of the laundry have been used, you'll put the laundry in the wash and pick up a new, clean one.
Advantages of the pre-saturation washing method

Vileda pre-saturation preparation method You will use only one side per surface to be cleaned.
- You will use your usual products and their dilution as usual.
- No need to wring out your laundry, as it will already be sufficiently soaked with the liquid, nothing more.
- You will save water.
- Your laundry will be more efficient. Since your clothes will be less dirty, they will be easier to clean. And your boilers will be very easy to rinse and clean.
- You can use this method on your regular cart.
- This system can be used for both manual and floor washing (see below for this method)! And yes, no more need for those old boilers and dirty wringers!
- You can keep the old system for washing floors in entrances, especially in winter. However, everywhere else, you can use pre-saturation now.
What product should you use this method with?
With the same products you currently have. However, we invite you to use ecological products or biodegradable. We now have excellent product lines bearing the Ecologo seal or biodegradable.
The cleaning method for furniture is as explained above. Vileda has even developed the steps into a visual procedure. Honestly, I couldn't do better than this image. So, we sincerely thank Vileda Professional for lending us these images.

What equipment or accessories should I use this method with?

Flat wash system
You can use a small hand boiler or even the flat wash system Vileda SwepDuo. For the floor mopping method, refilling is done the same way. For wet mopping, I also recommend the Vileda Swep mop.
The way to do it with the flat system is to string the mops into the bucket and do the pre-saturation preparation method. Your mops will be evenly soaked and have enough liquid without having to wring them out!
Here is the preparation method for the Vileda SwepDuo system.

In conclusion, I also suggest that you take advantage of this moment to change your linens for quality microfiber. To this end, we invite you to read our next blog which will focus on microfiber promoting the prevention of the multiplication of bacteria! Interesting, isn't it?
