Basic product and technical charter

The housekeeping industry relies largely on employees who have never received proper training. Unfortunately, many employers hand the keys to a building directly to a new employee without further explanation. Furthermore, products vary from one company or organization to another. That's why we want to introduce you to the basic product and technique charter that will simplify your work instructions.

What is a basic product and technical charter?

Through my work, I've learned that if I want information to be retained, it needs to be heard, seen, explained, and tested. The charter will never replace proper training. I see the product and technique charter more as a reminder of the best practices taught.

Through this charter, I determine the products used, their meaning as well as their possible applications. dilution suggested as well as on which surface the product is used. In addition, I also take the opportunity to repeat the most important basic techniques in pictures and words. This may concern the color code, identifying the High touch (high-risk contamination points), the floor washing techniques, etc.

What would be the basic techniques to include?

Here are the points we suggest you repeat throughout this charter:

  Dilution of washing products

• Proper use of a damp mop for floors. Without this technique, employees are very easily injured.
• Your color code. From one company or organization to another, products and color codes are not the same.
• The use of microfiber cloths. We strongly suggest that you explain the pre-soaking method. Ceva will encourage employees to change their linen regularly.

How to develop this charter?

I've tried several models over the years. And I realize that the one that has the most impact has to be simple! Use the power of images combined with simple text. That is to say, no long paragraphs or scientific words. Use words that your staff understands and knows. You could use a text with a bullet point list for example. Remember that in the population statistics of housekeeping employees are people for whom French is not their first language. Moreover, I suggest you put the charter in 3 languages:  French, Spanish and English.
