February 2018 Challenge: What if we changed the world?

Monthly Challenge

What if we changed the world?

And yes, I wanted to talk to you about a subject that fascinates me. That is, each of us has the ability to change the world from within ourselves, by taking responsibility for our actions and our words. And if we could change the world, it's a possible dream.

What would happen if we took Really Do you have time to listen to your spouse, coworker, or child? It's rare these days that people really take the time to truly listen.

Really listening means

  • Not thinking about what we could make for dinner tonight
  • Not thinking about what I should answer to the person who is talking to me
  • Do not make any judgment (positive or negative) on what the person tells me.

Empathy is a treasure to offer to another person, as well as to oneself.

According to Carl Rogers, empathy consists of " has to grasp, as accurately as possible, the internal references and emotional components of another person, and to understand them as if one were that other person »

Empathy isn't about offering our sympathy or judgment to another person. What's important isn't your judgment of the situation. What's important is how the other person perceives the situation or feels.

What if we changed the world?

  • What if we offered empathy to the person in need of listening or presence?
  • What if we offered ourselves empathy when needed? How often do we ignore our own feelings?
  • What if today I offered quality time to someone, without charging for my time, just for the pleasure of the moment?
  • If we stopped seeing what others are responsible for, and started by ourselves?

Several examples of people who changed the world

Father Pops changed the world in his own way. He made it his profession: listening and reaching out to young people.

Father Emmett Johns "Pops"

I had the pleasure of following 3 years of training on the well-known method of conscious communication by Marshall Rosenburg. Here is a book he wrote: Nonviolent Communication: Words Are Like Windows (Or They Are Walls). I can say, in turn, that this man changed my life, through the learning I drew from his teachings.

What if we changed the world in February? Each in our own way, by bringing more empathy to others as well as to ourselves.
