3M Special Floor Pads

Chemical use is reduced as much by better equipment and methods as by 3M pads now. I've tried other brands, but 3M beats them all in my opinion. They are effective and durable. Their basic products are well known. Did you know that 3M has special 3M floor pads? I'd like to draw your attention to some of them.

A floor pad for scouring without products

A scouring pad that saves the use of chemicals. You could use neutral cleaner or simply water to do your scrubbing. And the best part is that since you didn't use any degreaser or stripper, you don't need to rinse 2-3 times because your floor is already neutral (pH)! This pad is available in standard sizes from 12 to 20 inches. Admit that for scrubbing classrooms, this is very effective and fast! By the way, here is an article on my favorite floor buffers. 

Terrazzo Buffing Pads

WOW! I was amazed at how effective these pads were. When I used this product, we were in a building where the terrazzo floors were marbled. (dirty color). Previous janitors had used floor finish and tried to strip it with furniture stripper. Needless to say, the floors had become very ugly. Especially since every year, the janitors constantly re-finished the floor to make it shine despite its ugliness.

When the surface is not properly cleaned, adding floor finish will only highlight these defects. There are several colors of pads and there is a certain order to follow. So, before repolishing the floor, we had to remove the floor finish that was deeply embedded. This took several days, but the result was surprising. The terrazzo floor became like new and shiny, which boosted the building's image!

According to Wikipedia, terrazzo has been originating in Northern Italy for the past seven centuries: At that time, the basic mortar was made of slaked lime and crushed terracotta, the marble chips were sown then beaten or rolled to penetrate this mortar. The sanding was carried out using a bear, a type of stone millstone attached to the end of a wooden handle with which craftsmen rubbed the floor until the required appearance was obtained, the finishing hair protection being made from a mixture based on linseed oil.^{[ref. required]}

Nowadays, the main binder is the cement (white or gray), tinted or not in the mass, decorated with marble chips of all grain sizes which are incorporated directly into the base mixture with the cement. We only use "sown" if we want to create a gradient or a particular pattern in the ground.^{[ref. required]}

 

So, what I'd like you to remember is that terrazzo is natural and therefore doesn't need a floor finish. In fact, it can make the terrazzo surface look ugly. Maintain it with the right buffer and you'll have a beautiful terrazzo!

Stamps for the food industry

Finally, I'd like to point out that regular pads are not allowed for the food industry. You must make sure to use food-grade pads. 3M has some very good ones. The one on the right is used for washing pots in particular. And the one on the left is for utensils and general food uses. Note that these pads are more expensive than regular ones. Therefore, it's best to keep them only for the food industry.
